I’m pretty fresh to Discourse and twiddling about pre-launch, looking for ways to make it more user-friendly and homey for our purposes.
Starting with testing out using the Site Feedback category. My experiment right now is, should I keep the suggested todos as a list in the topic description itself, or save them as individual comments?

Introductions – for person-first introductory content
Orgs & Projects Directory - similar to introductions, but centers the orgs or projects people are working on. Like a showcase. Called a directory because that’s what keeps getting asked for. Could this be a Grist form instead with an embedded display on our website? A prospect.
Events
Mesh Curious (suggest this instead of Salish Mesh as it matches the Signal chat, is more open-ended, and Salish Mesh is still a wee bit TBD governance/ownership of that ‘brand’)
Commons Computer
Customize branding to some degree - have Commons Computer somewhere; mention DWeb somewhere
Consider resetting the 10 second limit for opening links; it’s annoying?
Create an avenue for people to propose new chat channels?
Do you think we should create a MEETINGS category and migrate all the stuff from the HackMD over here? Each month we could make a new thread and set it to WIKI MODE so people can edit it (though if I recall, Discourse does not have great real-time collaboration)
Introductions - not recommended as a category, but rather an introductions thread in whatever the general category is going to be. I’ll probably rename General to Discussions.
We can model this as part of inviting people.
Directory - could just be a wiki page that people can add to. I don’t know the backstory of what this should be?
Events - there are a bunch of calendar features that can get turned on, or we could just embed the Luma. What’s the idea?
Mesh Curious - yes will create
Commons Computer - yes, with and admins group that is private, and perhaps also a members or similar.
DWebYVR - I think we can make this as a topic, and then inside of that Members where you have to login and join the group (no barriers just a cozier space). Book Club, Planning Meeting (with note templates), others as desired.
Created Operations and then put a Raft Liaisons inside as the first private group
Branding - yes, we can have a thread around this and see what we can put together.
10sec limit - no idea what that is? Could be a new feature or something I’m not aware of or your “trust level” was too low. LMK what you are seeing.
