Where: Z-Space

Join us if you are interested in exploring shared spaces and collaborative ownership in Vancouver and beyond.

Z-Space and the CoFood Garden have been amazing spaces that are part of the larger “federation” of people and projects around DWebYVR. Members of Z-Space host DWeb events, Emily gathers people at the CoFood garden, mesh devices get permanently installed, and various computers host servers. We rely on the sustainability of those spaces to exist so we can gather and experiment together.

Adjacently, Venue Co-Op YVR formed a co-op to look for space for music re-hearsals, performance, and more.

Among these needs, lets discuss how to research spaces that we might share as a commons:

  • Z-Space’s current lease goes for another 19 months – we don’t currently have alternate options!
  • We need to research other spaces, and see if others want to join us
  • CoFood Garden is going away - are there other outdoor spaces that could be used? Could venue research include outdoor space?
  • There is a continuous need for event & performance space of 50 - 100 people – is there a business model to make such a space viable?

Join us for the kick-off meeting, share your needs and interests, and start working on the Common Space project.

Name is a placeholder, we can brainstorm others!

Your hosts are Emily @emilym, Chad @chadkoh, & Boris @boris, who will also act as facilitators. We’ll do a round of intros to see what everyone’s interests and needs are, and then have open discussion and brainstorming.

Feel free to introduce yourself below.
