I just got notification that the Hostinger VPS renews Oct 1st, at 378USD for a year, or $30.99USD / month.
I’ve asked our financial host leads for permission to run a Commons Computer project to pool funds and share expenses for those that want to participate.
We host some services for DWebYVR:
- ghost website
- Hedgedoc notes
- this forum
- annual domain names
- matrix
- gitea git host
- etc

What’s Next
I’ve been experimenting with Proxmox + ansible scripts on a bare metal server at OVH. This pattern has been very flexible for running anything, although it is not point and click like Cloudron is.
I’d like to not renew Hostinger.
Cloudron could be migrated to a new host (gives us time to move more things off it) or review the services and re-implement them.
See which admins @aynish @daffl @chadkoh have time / interest in facilitating the move.
Next step is reviewing hosting options and see who wants to participate.
The two paths:
- explore hardware and put a new machine at Z-Space
- find hosting in Canada (OVH plans have all gone up in price, more like $80CAD/month)
